FWIW: Those early Salvation Army women preachers who hauled around wounded soldiers for hours under fire on the Front in *World War I*, who fried doughnuts in hot oil under live fire - at the Front - they were only allowed to go under the condition they technically be sworn in as privates.

There were so many women preachers in the US in the 2nd half of 1800s/1st half of 1900s that one newspaper article described a lady preacher whose parrot annoyed her by swearing but she was so upset when it got loose she offered a reward for its return, & the anecdote was the story, not the lady.

This will hurt seminaries. I took one PhD-level class my first semester of seminary 😅 and I learned one layer from the brilliant professor and a second layer from the international students around me because I was one of only a few North Americans in the room. I learned SO MUCH.

The Pales, the oldest Quaker meeting house in continuous use in Wales. It is in a remote spot because of how intensely Quakers were persecuted in the 17th century - as the stories of the Quaker women in my book “Voices of Thunder” reveal. The burial ground dates to 1673, the meeting house to 1717.
