In riichi mahjong, if I'm liable for daisangen, but then someone else deals in, are they responsible for the honba, or am I? (Actually happened today. Also it was a double yakuman where I was only responsible for one of them, so I crossed off a lot of rare scenarios on the bucket list today.)

When I was in college, I studied abroad in Fukuoka for 6 weeks. I talked to some Japanese people a few weeks before the trip, and the first thing they said when I mentioned it was, "Oh, people in Fukuoka are so kind." 20 years and four Japan trips later, it is so true.

Life has been crazy. For the last year I've been dealing with a lot of stress and handling it poorly. But I keep telling myself that I have a vacation soon, and once I'm able to go to any random restaurant in Japan and get served something like this for around 1000 yen, it will all be better.

I think I'm pretty much done playing mahjong on Riichi City. It's obvious someone working on the game has a huge loli/foot fetish, an unquenchable desire to force it upon people, and the leverage to do so constantly. There's so many ways to play mahjong where I don't have to deal with this tripe.

I'm going to have to buy a copy of this mahjong 'strategy' book when I'm in Japan.
