I can't believe I only just noticed this, but the Teal & Pink colour scheme seen throughout Donkey Kong Bananza's UI is actually a reference to the colour palette of the first level from the original Donkey Kong!!

Yikes, a 'BAFTA nominated' composer is sending *free* work to the studio I contracted with recently, asking to use their music instead. Not only is this incredibly rude, it completely undervalues the field. Is this a composer thing? Can't say this has ever happened before with my UI work! 😅

This isn't even subtle. All it tells us is that the game was sloppily made without any attention to detail. A literal cash grab, with zero passion, direction or effort. If you can't even be bothered to create your own cover art, why should we bother playing what it’s advertising? Gross.

For Omochapon I needed to do a little explaining to help the player out but didn’t want it to be text heavy. Mostly because of regionalising the text but also for fun as a visual! I love these little instruction sheets! 😍😍 #IndieDev #GameDev #MadeWithUnity

Random thought, but it’s so upsetting to see how many senior/experienced members of our industry are desperately trying to stay relevant on LinkedIn by indulging toxic fads like Gen AI and NFTs, while younger members with more to lose are the ones speaking up and fighting for our industry and peers.

Don't think I've ever said this outright before, but the Game UI Database is NOT driven by AI. All 60,000+ screenshots were tagged BY HAND by myself over the last four years. Every screen type, every filter - even the colours! When you're passionate about the quality of your work, you don't need AI.

I never thought it could happen to me, but my Twitter got hacked... I was stupid and clicked a Calendly phishing link. Luckily I was able to regain control, but I'm really sad that they deleted my 2.0 launch tweet and all the lovely replies. I read through them often for encouragement. Sucks. ☹️

100% this. I'm sick of bad faith actors calmly pretending to be the bigger person in a sea of justifiably angry and emotional people. We have every right to be upset, our craft has been violated. Don't bother debating with these people, just block and move on. Shut them out.

I’m seeing a lot of soft takes from industry mutuals at the moment that we shouldn’t be so hard on those who use generative AI because it’s becoming harder and harder to resist. Wrong. Betraying your ethics (and your peers) because ‘everyone else is doing it’ does not suddenly make it acceptable.
