Word of Piece By Piece (both of them) is still spreading far and wide. This week we were featured in Polygon, GamesRadar and PC Gamer!! Still feels unreal to me... Not only is my music in a game, but the game is actually successful?? And the Switch version isn't even out yet!

Piece By Piece made it to the front page of r/Steam on Reddit - twice! Hilariously, another game with the same name as ours was released in the same week. However, instead of becoming a branding nightmare, we turned it into a feel-good story by collaborating on a bundle! 🙌

Long before my UI career, one of my lifelong dreams was to become a composer. Last year, that dream came true when I was asked to compose the OST on Piece By Piece. And now... the game was just featured on Kinda Funny!! Greg Miller wishlisted it!! Absolutely surreal. 12 days to go!

I'm happy to say that PadCrafter 2.0 will finally support SVG exports! Control schemes can be saved as individual SVGs, copied to the clipboard (for pasting in Figma/Illustrator), or exported as an entire project in a ZIP file. Launch coming soon, along with Mouse/Keyboard support and other goodies!

Larian's CEO says they "don't see it as a replacement for developers". How?? If you're using AI to generate ANY artwork, even internally, that's replacing human labour. You can't claim to not be replacing anyone when you're using a tool that's literally doing the work of an artist. Gross.

So, “Order of the Sinking Star” by Thekla was just announced, which takes several small free games (two of which are mine) and gives them a major graphical upgrade and mashes up their rulesets. I haven’t been very involved but it’s a great concept and looks cool.

Besides the obvious reasons for disliking Gen AI, here’s a personal one: I’m scared it’s going to ruin my enjoyment of Game UI. Art used to inspire me - now my first thought is to question whether it’s real or not. If that ever happens with Game UI, it would break my heart.
