As we make sense of the new(ish) political landscape the ongoing legislative election is laying out in Egypt, it's crucial to remember that Mustaqbal Watan remains a home to a lot of networks that were tied to the Mubarak regime (either by formal or familial ties).

As legislative elections are proceeding in Egypt, a few observations on the distribution of seats among parties in the state-sponsored list (the only list contesting the party list races) when compared to the 2020 election distribution:

I’m no former leader, but I worked there. Didn’t know this guy, but his beliefs and his behavior are reprehensible. Not just the odious Orientalism and racism, but also the express threat to have family members arrested and tortured in a foreign country.

I’m relieved to hear that this racist man was arrested. I hope he will be held accountable for his actions. A lot of people are still waiting for reactions from Obama administration leaders hoping they would speak out against the distributing views expressed by Stuart Seldowitz.
