The audacity of this administration of known pedophiles to call ANYTHING the "Stop the Sexualization of Children Act" other than a bill that impeaches and punishes every child rapist in office is off the charts... especially with a bill like this that will actively harm trans youth. Fuck this place.

What I know about Benito’s music can fit in an Altoids tin but I’m sitting here watching it almost in tears. Imagine seeing something this joyous and defiantly celebratory and feeling nothing but anger. Imagine living life being that much of a miserable prick. Just living for spite.

If there any fans of Jeff Rosenstock (or just music in general) who have NOT heard his short-lived band Kudrow, you need to change that. Some of Jeff’s best work and one of the most incredible EP’s I’ve ever heard.

I know my brain has been absolutely cooked by experimental music because I walked into a guitar shop and simultaneously heard some dude shredding a metal solo, someone else tuning, and a child strumming atonally with reckless abandon and thought “This rules, I want a recording of it.”

Whole record is an absolute masterclass, but the title track may be my favorite piece of jazz ever recorded. Free For All is a TEMPEST, and Blakey is Poseidon himself.

My AOTY 2025: Hiromi’s Sonicwonder - Out There This may be my favorite record released in all the of the 2020’s at this point. Like holy shit. I sat there slack-jawed for a whole hour the first time I listened to this. Out There offers everything I could want in a jazz album and more. 1/6

I finally listened to Geese’s album Getting Killed, what a great record! Love that it keeps jumping back and forth between heart-on-sleeve and batshit insane. Cool and fresh genre bending, almost a little Tom Waits-y at times. Great songwriting, impeccable playing, one of my of faves of 2025!

Yes, collectively it's called the "Beasts of Burden Suite." It's six games. Donkey Kong is the flagship. Then Reindeer Kong. Hm? Yes, not actually a reindeer. Then Mule Kong, then Lllama Kong. Also monkeys, yes. Then Bactrian Camel Kong. That's correct, also monkey. Then Elephant Kong. Yes I'll hold

sentiment I've had crop up in a lot of media I've watched/played recently is that whole "music isn't about the notes you play, it's about your emotions/feelings" and it's honestly starting to bug me because it just kinda undermines the effort to evoke something with musical technique-

My old band Leonardo DiVorcio is getting back together to play a very cool and special gig and we released this album almost 2 years ago. Maybe if you’re a person who likes sad trashy garage punk with a little bit of ska and hardcore thrown in you should check this out?

I listened to this album every day for like 2 months when I first discovered it. So groovy, great musicianship, and the lyrics strike a perfect balance between funny and bleak. A quintessential millennial anxiety record and THE quintessential Cheekface record, imho. Happy birthday, Emphatically No

I feel like Guillermo Del Toro saw Poor Things and was like “I’m going to create a Frankenstein film that is even more fantastical, flamboyant, and uncomfortably erotic than that…and also I’m gonna add a reeeeeeaaaaaallllyyy tall tower.” And god bless him, he did.

I truly think Blackstar is Bowie’s best work. It feels free of any commercial pressures and is such a pure and imposing artistic statement. Brilliantly composed, and the band he assembled is fucking stellar. I’m particularly enamored with Mark Guiliana’s drum work and Donny McCaslin on sax. 10/10

Seeing Bug on Broadway tonight for its final preview. Not familiar with this particular play, but if it’s even remotely as dark and disturbing as Tracy Letts’ other work, I think I’m in for a real treat.

Revisited this masterpiece today. I don’t think any other album quite captures the feelings of rage and helplessness that permeate all existence in this decade like NODREAM. Perfect songwriting and some of the tightest musicianship in all of punk rock. May be my favorite record of the 2020’s so far.

Really wish I was able to catch this a second time, because I was FLOORED by this production. Whole cast was great, but Alex gave a stellar performance that so honestly balanced a world-weary brokenness with an indefatigable sense of humor. Also, Michael Patrick Thornton was REVELATORY as Lucky.
