I’m just now seeing this picture, and I love this because you can tell it means something to these players. At the core it’s just a silly squid game, but anyone who has fallen short of a goal can connect with the emotion captured in this shot. It’s the beauty of competition.

This is a really cool format I’ve never seen before. Seems like you need exactly 16 or 32 teams for it to work though? No more or less, and drops during Swiss probably messes a lot up. Still, for 16 team invitationals I would love to see this kind of format.

Watching the stream after being in the venue. The crowd noise is not being accurately translated to the stream audience. It is WAY louder during hype moments at the venue than it appears.

Happy Day 2 of Riptide, aka Cedar Point Saturday. The day where the teams that won their pool get to go to an amusement park, while everyone else is punished by having to stay at the venue and play more splatoon.

Traveling across the Midwest with my wife and 2 year old son to commentate other people playing a video game where squid humanoid creatures attack each other with pencil guns and squeegee swords. Not how I envisioned my mid 30s playing out but here we are.

I know there has been a lot of focus on the plus servers recently, but things have actually improved a lot for those servers from four years ago. I’ll explain why on the Popcast along with my Low Ink recap. Popcast today live 6p edt on IPL Twitch.

Been playing correspondence chess with Brush for 5 days now. He’s cooked.

We experimented a lot with formats with Proving Grounds. Oddly enough the most popular format was SE into Top 4 DE. Why did 40 teams sign up for this when half of them would be eliminated in 30 mins? High seed teams would get upset in early rounds, dog us on twitter, then sign up again next tourney.

July 2025 Report: 83 teams played in Low Ink, -5 new teams with no results. Of the 78 teams, 50 played in an open tourney either 1 month before or after the July Low Ink. Of the 28 who didn’t, 20 are FTIU eligible, meaning only 8 teams are not actively playing in tourneys above their skill level.

Thinking about SWS maps, Samurai Cat was counterpicked to urchin 6 times, humpback 2, and picked eeltail 6 times. Other than a bluefin and mako pick, and the preset game 1, that was their entire tourney. Their sets just came down to winning game 1, which they did for all 7 matches they played.
