Feeling completely overwhelmed and exhausted today- my chest is rough and I really don’t feel like going back to work tomorrow, but it isn’t really bad enough not to. I also seem to have no ability to say no to my dad, who wants to come and stay next weekend when I will just want to flop.

Uncertainty is hard Is the current state of my chest (not good) what I can expect all winter- or worse? When will my end of October clinic appointment actually be? Will they have anything different to offer or is this as good as it gets until the new drug is licenced? When will that be?

A down day today, catching up on rest after a hectic wee while. Slept lots, tried out the Guide craft for Monday which worked first time, did some sewing, and flopped in front of comfort TV. Just what I needed!

Mum’s funeral tomorrow. My birthday today. Came down this afternoon. My dad, bless him, had baked a cake. He’s never baked a cake in his life before!

Before mum died, she had lent me her overlocker (fancy sewing machine with lots of threads). She kept telling me it was really hard to re-thread. Last time I used it a thread snapped- it needs threaded. My wife suggested I’d need youtube -I think I need a seance!

All the pears came down as windfall just before we went away unexpectedly, so have been sat in a basket since. They were all ripe today when I looked, so pear and ginger buns, and the rest are caramelised and popped in the freezer for later. First proper baking in a while

Well, this last 10 days has been a lesson in what missing my chest clearance for 3 days causes 🙄 The last 3 days of mum’s life were a bit chaotic as they are. By the next day my chest was awful. Antibiotics settled things at first but now getting worse again 😬

Just been to Tesco. Need things for the Guide Halloween party next week so I thought I’d pick them up a bit early. Clearly I’m very tardy- the seasonal aisle is all Christmas and there is very little Halloween stock left, now reduced. Oh well, need to look elsewhere for eyeball sweets!

A dose of vitamin sea this afternoon

My wee mum died last night. Peacefully, at home, with us all around her. She was remarkably accepting and prepared as always- still identifying as a midwife right up to the end despite leaving nursing when we arrived. It was an honour to care for her at home.
