Had a very good conversation with a customer in which I gently suggested that if you think that One Piece has the best storytelling of its era, you probably should read more genres than shonen action

This just isn’t true. There aren’t enough people who would willingly fix our infrastructure without some sort of incentive or coercion

Dragon Quest 1 (the Non-HD versions) is so funny when you realize it's a sequel to a mystery game and not an RPG. It's a game about questioning NPCs and solving puzzles Folks of my generation used to kvetch about "talking to every NPC" but that comes from this where the NPCs are the core gameplay

Paul and Tate getting their brains turned to mashed potatoes the moment they stepped in the ring with somebody in the same weight class who isn't afraid to punch back feels like God flashing a big red warning sign to our country.

The 20th century is replete with vast, globe spanning, movements with vast ambitious and incredibly complex politico-aesthetic design languages who were defeated by the power of coca cola, denim pants that showcase butts in a nice way, and Metallica.

As someone who studies this stuff for a living basically thing amateur hour analysis actually offends me. Paradox has had it's issue to be sure but the actual problem surrounding Paradox Games and radicalization is not the content of the vanilla games themselves but the modding scene around it /1

One of the things that I struggle to process about this is that I grew up hearing for decades from the Christians around me who were staunchly opposed to euthanasia that THIS would be the outcome. Euthanasia advocates insisted that it was just “conservative fearmongering”.

The whole "the Old Magic sucks because material conditions have advanced" thing, but applied to cinematic martial arts. No, yeah, the legends are true, that move USED TO explode a man's entire skeleton, but you need to understand that people had more fragile bones back then. Poor nutrition, you see.
