I still remember when there was an uproar about U2 and Apple forcing an unwanted album onto our devices. Now, basically every other day companies are like, "Hey we own all your info now, thanks. I guess you can manually turn it off if you want, but we'll make your experience horrible."

Genuinely dystopian how "taking pictures of strangers without their consent" has become a genre of online content. And I don't get what's purportedly performative about these photos. Reading books at coffee shops, the airport, and on the subway? God forbid!

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

Watching VHS Halloween and enjoying it so far, though I noticed what looks like an AI photo in the first short film. It's a small detail, especially in a very well directed short film (with some great creature and set design) but that makes the usage of AI all the more disappointing.

Couldn’t agree with this more. Not only does our algorithm-focused entertainment model trap us in binge-watching loops, it also prioritizes the safe and the nostalgic over all else - encouraging endless rewatches of Friends or The Office over a new show or an original movie.

The first time I remember really understanding the depth of Robert Redford’s acting was in ALL IS LOST. Sure, I loved him in ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN and his other classic performances, but this role - so anchored in his silence and his expression - blew me away. RIP to an immense talent.
