OBSESSION is a perfect blend of horror and humor, where the horror terrifies you and the humor has you crying from laughter. Inde Navarrette's performance is jaw-droppingly good. And the way Curry Barker uses shadows and blocking to enhance his horror feels old-school in the best way. #filmsky

For those who need it, including me:

HOKUM is a ton of fun. An immaculately eerie atmosphere combined with a great performance from Adam Scott and some truly spine-chilling scares. I also adored the sequences that bookend the film.

Congratulations to @danielkraus.com who won the PULITZER PRIZE in the arts for Angel Down!! One of the most unique and harrowing fictional journeys I’ve ever experienced! SO COOL!

MOTHER MARY takes some big swings and, as a result, has some big misses. But it's an electric film - beautifully directed, visually stunning, and featuring two great performances. Even with its fumbles, I adore the way Lowery tells this story.

This is the side of filmmaking I've always loved. A team coming together to create a stunning visual moment, using nothing more than their collective creative instincts and some simple tools and parts.

I think others have already more eloquently stated the concerns and issues around AI writing (and the misogynoir on display in how recent news has been discussed). So all I'll say is this: I will never use AI in my writing in any capacity. What's on the page has been pulled bloody from my brain.

WHERE ARE YOU REALLY FROM by @elainehsiehchou.bsky.social was such a wonderful surprise. I was drawn in by the cover art's liminal aesthetic, and then I was entranced by the character work and the prose. "Mail Order Love", "Carrot Legs", and "Featured Background" all deeply moved me.

I still remember when there was an uproar about U2 and Apple forcing an unwanted album onto our devices. Now, basically every other day companies are like, "Hey we own all your info now, thanks. I guess you can manually turn it off if you want, but we'll make your experience horrible."

Genuinely dystopian how "taking pictures of strangers without their consent" has become a genre of online content. And I don't get what's purportedly performative about these photos. Reading books at coffee shops, the airport, and on the subway? God forbid!

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.
