It is eternally funny to me that, tonally and thematically, Alien: Resurrection and Alien: Covenant seem to be the two most prominent reference points within the franchise for Alien: Earth. I adore Covenant, and Resurrection is way underrated. This bodes very well for me.

I like in ‘Alien: Earth’ how the character of Morrow’s biomechanical left hand has the tones/translucency of an H.R. Giger design, particularly like this painting:

43 years ago today, it was a great day for lovers of genre cinema. They woke up and had the choice of going to see Ridley Scott's Blade Runner or John Carpenter's The Thing. 👌 None was a great success, quite the contrary, and the reviews were generally mixed, if not negative. 😂

this is such a perfect scifi pulp adventure image. I always wanted Predator to delve into the whole "space conan" vibe more and.. finally.

Kind of awkward that Ryan Coogler only took one of the twins to the SINNERS premiere.

this is the NEW YORK TIMES griping over Sinners having an "enormous" budget. it cost one third of whatever Netflix action pap that literally spends one week in one theater. it just had an amazing opening weekend with guaranteed WOM. WHAT ARE WE DOING www.nytimes.com/2025/04/20/b...

It's telling the chin stroking being done over Sinners doing quite well on a modest budget while nobody suggests there may be something amiss with the plan of "A streamer gives the Russos 300 million dollars to light on fire for a movie nobody believes is real when you tell them about it."

Still taken aback by how much weirder Sinners was than I expected. Takes huge swings and it's exhilarating every single time. Also is a prime example of how you can pay homage to genre films/ media of the past (a lot of John Carpenter and Stephen King love here) whilst also forging your own path.

Star Wars movies used to have big pulpy titles like THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and ATTACK OF THE CLONES. A Star Wars title should be a mouthful to say!
