I've seen reports explaining that Tron Ares was a bomb because the franchise has zero box office weight, but although Tron Legacy under performed it made over $400m WW and had some staying power at the box office. The decision to rewrite the story away from Legacy and cast Leto is what killed Ares.

What an incredible ride the last four have been!

Every 5-10 years I come back to thinking Danny Boyle is one of the best working directors. Films like Yesterday and Slumdog Millionaire sometimes put that to the test but I always come back around. With 28 Years Later I'm firmly back in that grove (also T2 has grown into a masterwork in my eyes).

www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKCS... I love how this track was used in 28 Years Later. Wagner eschewed through the drums, strings and vocals of Young Fathers, used to segue from a heart racing, frenzied action sequence directly in to an elaborate and exaggerated retelling of the same events.

Love Danny Boyle to bits. Few directors, filmmakers or media personalities would have that kind of humility and reflection to admit they were part of a larger industry problem. In fact, we’ve seen it destroy the minds of such people when faced with valid criticism (Linehan and the trans community).

Just perusing through the Worldwide Box Office figures and very strange that the new Bridget Jones has made $135m but didn’t even get a theatrical release (limited or otherwise) in the US. Someone has to have lost a job over the decision, surely?

Still taken aback by how much weirder Sinners was than I expected. Takes huge swings and it's exhilarating every single time. Also is a prime example of how you can pay homage to genre films/ media of the past (a lot of John Carpenter and Stephen King love here) whilst also forging your own path.
