An unfortunate end to my Tamagotchi diary, which didn't reach its natural conclusion thanks to my moment of inattention. It might not have moved me to tears, but there is something properly magical watching these little fellas move around on a tiny LCD. This beepy egg has really made my past month.

Tamagotchi Diary, 24th Jan Nothing new to report for Connor, who has been living a peaceful and uneventful life. I've been lax in looking after it (it wakes up at 8:30! I don't) but overall nothing catostrophic has happened.

Tamagotchi Diary, 14th Jan 12:08 PM: Success! My caring has paid off with it growing into a Mametchi, which is what I've been hoping for this whole time. I asked my friends to suggest names, but only one of them gave a real name... so Connor it is!

Tanagotchi Diary, 11th Jan 9:00 AM: I'm gently awakened by faint beeps coming from outside my bedroom... Sure enough, my little fella had evolved! This thing really is capable of making a racket.

Comparison shots of the Platoon movie and NES game. Someone at Sunsoft did a really good job replicating the scenes from the movie. Platoon is a 1986 war movie produced by Hemdale Film Corporation and distributed by Orion Pictures. The NES game was developed and published by Sunsoft in 1988.

Was over at a friend's place, rummaging through stuff the previous tenants left there, and rescued the most 90s CD selection you can imagine- Eagles, Cher, Kitano, S.E.N.S., and so on. This Hotel California CD stands out for its title song, and is worth the whole binder it came in (in my opinion!).

[SRIN-1108] Magical Chase Original Soundtrack (Mandarake, ~¥2000) Here is a soundtrack that rewards whatever attention you pay it. On casual listening, it's a light and breezy affair that's easy cute-em-up listening. Pay attention to the details, and the sheer mastery on display makes itself known.

[WM-0761] SEGA AGES OutRun -Music Collection- (Mandarake, ~¥1500) The original soundtrack I'm sure needs no introduction, but the tightly curated selection of new compositions and remixes of overlooked songs from the series's past complement the original arcade tunes well. Definitely recommended.

[32DP 593] The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out (Disk Union, ~¥400) I'd only listened to Take Five on streaming prior to owning this one. Surprisingly, the unusual time signatures do not distract from the album's pleasant jazz arrangements. Perfect background music for unwinding after a long trip.

Desperado (X68000) - Main Theme by Naoya Kawahara This song made me realise just how unknowable this world's depths are. There's so much music out there by all sorts of folks, and it's impossible to listen to all of it. Turn the wrong corner, you'll miss amazing tunes like this. And that's a shame.
