I was watching @hikanowaguild.bsky.social playing Super Mario 2 on SNES today. That's when I noticed Peach's sprite flickering animation when she's under the star item power. On one of the frames, she has a blue dress and pink hair, and the crown changed to... a Fatal Fury cap?! 😂

I'm looking for help: I've been cleaning up illustrations from the Japanese 'Contra: The Hard Corps' Mega Drive manual, but there's some bits covered by other elements. I've managed to fill in some of the blanks with the help of other sources, but I'm still missing some bits (marked in magenta).

It's hilarious how Godzilla-kun Game Boy game, developed by Compile, got changed in the West. It's a cute action-puzzle game where you climb ladders and punch rocks around. Depending on the version, you either save Godzilla-kun's girlfriend Bizilla, or Godzilla's son Minilla. imgur.com/a/DL3tSQ4

False marketing? "The MSX (ROM cartridge) version features added powerful bosses and increased final boss attack patterns." In the tape version, the final boss Pay-Valusa was a bee that just stood there. It was replaced with a moving armored knight in the ROM version. Only dragon boss was added.

ED-209 having troubles with stairs? Just look at RoboCop on NES here, walking around and constantly crouching, trying to get that pixel-perfect placement. Even when he manages to go down the stairs, he still ends up crouching once more. 😅 Can some RoboCop cosplayer please recreate this scene IRL?

I'm not the biggest fan of the original Pac-Man game, but I've really gotten into games like Pac-Man Arrangement (1996) and Pac-Man Championship Edition (2020 NES demake). That makes me wonder if there's a Breakout/Arkanoid style game that I might really enjoy too? Haven't found one yet.

Key art from Come On Picot, a 1986 MSX game developed by Satoru Miki and Hiroyuki Fujiwara, and published by Pony Canyon. It's an ultra-rare and expensive game to get a physical Japanese copy of. To this day its cover and manual hasn't been scanned online (the game itself is widely dumped).

Say what you want about the Last Action Hero game for the Amiga (developed by The Dome, published by Psygnosis), but Jack Slater has a really funny headbutt attack in it. Makes it seem like he's headbanging to the music.

Xak: The Tower of Gazzel is a 1991 action-RPG by Microcabin released for the PC-88, PC-98 and MSX2. It's technically the third installment in the Xak series, taking place between the events of Xak II and Xak III. This is the opening cutscene from the MSX2 version of the game, but zoomed-in.

Comparison shots of the Platoon movie and NES game. Someone at Sunsoft did a really good job replicating the scenes from the movie. Platoon is a 1986 war movie produced by Hemdale Film Corporation and distributed by Orion Pictures. The NES game was developed and published by Sunsoft in 1988.
