🍿 SHUDDER Film 31 of 31: When Evil Lurks 🪓 (I still watch Shudder daily, but this was the last of my "original" run). Oh boy. Ended on a very grim note. Excellent movie, albeit with some scenes that will stick with me in ways I don't necessarily appreciate. Approach with caution.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 30 of 31: A Wounded Fawn 🦌 Another one that you will either love or hate! I love it because it's weird as FUCK and stars Josh Ruben, who is always amazing. The less you know, the better.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 29 of 31: Blood Quantum 🐟 I know this one is generally pretty beloved, and it has an interesting mix of elements/tropes. But for some reason, it just didn't grab me. I may just be a bit zombied-out at the moment.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 28 of 31: Resurrection 🔪 Well-made, well-acted, freakishly unpleasant. I could have gone my whole life without seeing Tim Roth pretend to be pregnant. Despite an amazing performance by Rebecca Hall, I just can't recommend this one.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 27 of 31: Good Boy 🐕 Yep, it's the dog horror movie. I like this movie a lot conceptually. We get the familiar horror tropes (creepy staircases, nightmares, etc), but from a dog's perspective. It's short and sweet, and Indy is adorable. It will probably make you sad though.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 26 of 31: MadS 💊 On a technical level, this film is really impressive. I've seen long single-shot sequences before, but never an entire movie done that way. Truly astounding. That said, I like the first half more than the second half. After a while, you're just like, "I get it."

🍿 SHUDDER Film 25 of 31: The Medium 👻 This one had a lot of potential. It's really well done, beautifully shot, and the acting is incredibly natural (mockumentary style). But towards the second half when things ramp up, it just doesn't do anything new with the possession trope. Happy Thanksgiving!

🍿 SHUDDER Film 24 of 31: Vicious Fun 🥃 This one should've been right up my alley, but IDK. Maybe it's because I've seen better versions of this VERY frequently lately, but it just never grabbed me. And the 80s vibe doesn't hit right. Julian Richings is (again) a highlight as a killer clown though.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 22 of 31: In A Violent Nature 🧑‍🚒 Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace to watch this. I appreciate the fresh take on slasher tropes/villains, but as someone on Reddit described it, this feels more like horror ASMR. I genuinely would probably love it as a screensaver.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 21 of 31: Dark Match 🤼 Future final girl alert ‼️ This wrestling-themed horror film is a lot of fun, and so is its lead, Miss Behave. You don't need to like wrestling to appreciate it, but you'll notice a few easter eggs if you do. Never break kayfabe.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 20 of 31: What Josiah Saw 👁️ I'm not entirely sure what to make of this one. It's skillfully made and well-acted, it just doesn't feel like a Shudder movie. There's a bit of a gritty Coen brothers vibe. Somewhat similar thematically to The Dark and The Wicked.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 19 of 31: The Mortuary Collection ⚰️ This anthology film is cheesy as hell. The effects are cheap, the acting is hammy, and some of the segments are predictable. That said, I found it incredibly charming-like a series of modernized Goosebumps episodes. Clancy Brown kills it as always.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 18 of 31: Glorious 🚽 On a much lighter note, there's Glorious - about a distressed man meeting a demigod in a bathroom stall. That demigod? JK Simmons, though you wouldn't know it if not for that voice. I really enjoyed this one! But as always, I like one-location films.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 17 of 31: The Sadness 🩸 This movie is not for the faint of heart, scream things. Imagine the infected from 28 Days Later crossed with the gleefully sadistic humans from The Purge series. The brutality is extraordinary and difficult to stomach. Impressive practical effects, though.
