I’ve spent a lot of time over the past couple years studying disinformation and persuasion, and one of the things I’ve learned is our minds are lazy. If there’s cognitive dissonance, the brain doesn’t need to discover the full truth to be satisfied. It’s quite happy with a rationalization.
