I wrote for the Guardian’s Saturday magazine about my son Max, who changed how I see the world. Took ages. More jokes after the first bit. Thanks Merope Mills for being the most patient and generous editor.

It's NHS data day, so are things getting better under the new Labour government? Well, yes and no, but it is early days. 41.9% of attendances at main A&Es in October saw the patient wait over four hours. That's up from 40.2% in September, but is less than 44.1% in October 2023.
