Anthony Perkins in Murder on the Orient Express is way too old for his character (he was 42 while MacQueen should be early 20s) so the film compensates by emphasizes that he's a little weirdo with a mommy complex knowing the audience won't question it because that's Norman Bates.

Sorry, but 13 was never better, kinder or more deserving of being the Doctor than 12, who most assuredly was the best he could be by the end and the tragedy is that it took him so long to find himself and didn't have more time to enjoy it.
