I read ‘The Mezzotint’ last night and it was very satisfyingly spooky. A print of a grand house which seems to change at night… I like that James’ stories often have this class element at their heart. In this case, the relationship between a land owner and a poacher. Poor people are scary! 😱

It’s coming up to that time of year again (AGAIN?! time marches on). As the leaves turn, I am drawn back to Mr. M.R. James’ spoopy stories (I’m sure that’s how he’d like them to be known) 👻 🕷️

I came across this map of Gethen drawn by Le Guin for The Left Hand of Darkness. Published way after the original publication of the book, in a collection of Hainish books in 2017, it’s a beautiful full colour map which provides much more detail than the other map I’d seen by her. #blutoid #maps
