Yesterday, on my birthday, I was at a benefit for the board I'm on. While at the bar, a woman wearing a beautiful green suit walked over to order a drink. She introduced herself. At one point I looked down and noticed her shoes and started to tear up. I had to tell her about my best friend Myra.

Something really embarrassing happened to me today and I wanted to text my bestie so she could have a laugh and make fun of me but I can't. 😭 I guess this is how the rest of my life is going to be.

My best friend Myra died after an 8.5 year fight against MBC (metastatic breast cancer). I keep telling people I'm ok when they ask & then I go to write something or pick up something & my hands shake. It's like the jitters when you haven't eaten. I'm hungry to talk to my friend again.

My first ever panel at AWP is complete & I didn't shit my pants! Loved talking about the ghosts that haunt us in our writing, meeting new writers, and hearing the ghost stories of some of the audience members.

All I did was register and take a walk around the book fair and I'm already overwhelmed. Day 1 of #AWP25

When we ask where his missing socks are, my son usually shrugs and says, "they went on vacation!" Today I cleaned & organized his room with him & found so many pairs of socks that he threw in his toy & costume baskets. My husband just counted 93 socks. 💀🤷🏾‍♀️😂

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable. Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes. Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

I spent three days chaperoning 15 Girl Scouts tweens/teens on a Philly trip jam packed with American history, lots of walking & teen spirit. Now that I've learned how to make the stars Betsy Ross sewed onto the flag, I'm about to sew a flag for the new country I'm starting.
