I think like anything else, people missed what they didn't have. Games were getting more "mature," *way* more mainstream, more complex, story-focused, easier, streamlined, and hand-holdy... And the NES was perceived to exist on the opposite end of that spectrum. You failed until you got better.

Definitely either the original or Touched. They're pretty much equal IMO. A video would be kind of challenging to work into my standard format. It's hard to go in-depth on gameplay mechanics when the games only last 5 seconds. Definitely one of my favorite series, though!

Sonic is the thing I'm best at drawing. I specifically practiced this during class circa 2001, and I think the results speak for themselves

At my school they were basically the very start of Pokémon becoming "cool" again. Like I didn't know ANYBODY else playing Ruby & Sapphire, but when FRLG came out and appealed to our childhood memories (lol we were still children it had only been 6 years), at least us nerds got into it again.

I like Z-A, but it never gives me the "Breath of the Wild"-like feeling that Arc did. I don't think restricting the game to one city worked as well as it could have. I miss all the ride Pokémon and wide-open spaces and lack of structure and distinct, different STYLE set in a unique time period...

The video game industry decided to discontinue their product, the video game, in exchange for trying to make Fortnites. They have in recent years found out this doesn't work, so they have pivoted from making Fortnites to making ????????????????? nothing I guess

Pokémon Red & Green sold poorly in Japan when they launched in 1996, only catching on months later. Apples and oranges, I know, but this is indicative of the shift in how execs at game publishers, streaming services, and Hollywood studios need instant results or they pull the plug. It's unhealthy.

It was a childhood dream to get a full-fledged 3D Pokémon game. I returned it after maybe 6 hours feeling like, "Be careful what you wish for." It was very slow, very unappealing, and very much leaning into that "GAMES ARE SRS BSNS" trend that teen me resented, haha.

Yeah, it should probably be in F instead. I paid 7 whole dollars to rent it and only played it for like 45 minutes. I don't remember much about why, but I remember how it felt, like, "...that's it?"

My lil bro (not biologically but spiritually) and I loved Kirby our whole lives and had played every co-op game together, including Superstar at least a hundred times growing up. We were so bored of Epic Yarn that we stopped playing it during the 2nd world. He's even less into cozy games than me!

#1 is indisputably Smash, but assuming that doesn't count... 1 - Mortal Kombat, esp. Klassic, but only *really* up to Armageddon, the modern stuff doesn't do much for me 2 - MvC, esp. MvC1 and UMvC3 3 - Street Fighter, esp. USF4 and the Alpha/Zero series. MK is the only one I see working as a TGC.

As kids, it did not matter to us that in an age of 3D graphics, Pokémon Red & Blue looked like something out of 1987 - before we were even born. If you grew up with Minecraft, I don't think the fact that it looked like a Jaguar game mattered to you either. Kids today do not care about the tree.

I'm very proud of lil 11 year old me for finishing Mega Man 8. I recently replayed it for the first time in like 2 decades, and did the final JUMP SLIDE gauntlet without losing a life. I thought there just be another, harder one later, but nope, the reflexes were just ingrained!

The one part of my original 2007 playthrough I still remembered, and one of my favorite songs in the whole series.
