The one where he turns into a Werehog is one of my favorite games in the series even though I don't particularly enjoy the story, the hub areas, most of the soundtrack, or any of the parts where he's a Werehog. This is what it means to be a Sonic fan.

Sega can do whatever else they want with Sonic as long as I can just get one helping of Classic every 5-10 years. :V

PokéMania was a cultural *event* at a level that was unsustainable. It was a fad, and like all fads it burned fast and bright, but what was left was still one of the biggest IPs in gaming.

I would never come to a Pokémon game expecting a challenge. The last thing I ever found hard about any of them was Whitney's Miltank, and that was 25 years ago. They're all brain-dead easy if you can vaguely remember type matchups.

I tried again when the Switch 2 update came out, and nope, I still can't get into Forgotten Land!

This is funny, but it's strange because "xD" and Invader Zim *and* Hot Topic chic are all coded to the mid-2000s in my memory, not the early 10s. But I knew zero teenagers by 2013, and I knew *all* the teens in 2003-06, so maybe it's that. Regardless, I promise to never stop xDing.

I love the old 1996 SEGA Saturn game NiGHTS into Dreams. It arrived at a time when I needed it the most and filled my life with beautiful positive things. It was a game about believing in yourself and not having to follow orders. Little me became very attached to that mindset. I chased my dreams.

Biggest rise: Gotta be Sonic Heroes, almost by default. Going from considering it the downfall of Sonic to thinking it's pretty okay is a HUGE upgrade. Biggest fall: Enter the Matrix. I loved the Matrix so so *so* much when it came out that I loved garbage shaped like it in video game form.

Yep! It was how I saw things before Forces too, though. I knew of like 27 different canons for Sonic before Adventure was even revealed, so when this new interpretation came along with different designs that made Amy older but kept Tails the same age, it seemed natural that it was another one.

One of the odd misconceptions about Donkey Kong Bananza's existence is this notion that it's a one-off, that Nintendo made it a Donkey Kong game by arbitrarily drawing the name out of a hat, and that it's not part of a multi-year strategy to reestablish the brand between the park and movie.

I get that DONKEY KONG getting a new 3D platformer in 2025 is bewildering to many fans and even mainstream journalists, but this has been the plan for years now. Yes, it would be cool if Star Fox or Wario got a new game, but it's not like Bananza exists as it does because a dart landed on DK's face.

I was probably like... 10-12 here? I think I might've also written "READY FOR MEGA MAN" on the note. xD I wanted the Saturn version and found it on eBay for like $20-$30 back then, but my parents didn't trust the internet to let me do that.

It is a little silly and a little embarrassing just how much I've been able to enjoy all aspects of Sonic again since I made this post last month. :V Like I've taken a LONG break from the series and I needed that distance, but I think I've finally accepted that my fandom can be what I want it to be.

"Like two ships passing in the night." They could have released it on the GameCube in 02, and I'd have played it as a melodramatic anime-obsessed 13 year old. I'd probably look back on it now as the game that defined the line between childhood and not-childhood. The right game at the perfect time.

Instead, my first KH game was the sequel, where I spent several hours playing as a character I didn't know in a world that wasn't Disney. Also I was 17 and therefore the perfect age to find its writing *hilarious*, and not in a charming way. It was a bad first impression at a bad time.

I played KH3 up to the end of the Toy Story world, and by then I absolutely *did* find the dialogue hilarious (charming), but I had no desire to keep going. It's the epitome of a series I maybe *could* have loved if I'd played it at the right time, but I couldn't, so I don't. Alisha loves it tho!
