i'm really annoyed the internet has reached a point where people by default think every game is bad, especially with older ones. i get this from random chatters no matter how much i am enjoying myself, streamers have their whole personality revolve around trashing every tiny thing, it's exhausting

games rule and exploring the good/rough/weird is what makes them awesome. something being strange doesn't mean it's terrible, the devs were not "on drugs" while making something unusual or difficult. such a miserable and embarrassing perspective to have. AHHHH

MK64's reception over time looks like a bell curve. First it was looked down on for not being as good as Super Mario Kart. Then Diddy Kong Racing came out 9 months later and did everything SO much better that it kicked off the "aged poorly" cycle that went on for the next decade or so.

I think the QoL of modern Pokémon games makes the older ones really tough to go back to for me. Gen I aside, but that's a different thing. Like I've been trying to lock in on SoulSilver and White 2 but they're just SO SLOW. Why do I have to kill 12,000 Bellsprout first thing!?

This always annoys me a bit. Gen I was tremendously effective; still perhaps the best map the series has seen with a perfect blend of choice and balance, and still perhaps the most the Pokémon have felt like a part of their world - the novelty forcing the game to really ground them.

They aren't even my favourites! I started with I but it is and always has been IV that has my heart! But it's frustrating to see "I like Gen I the best" misrepresented as nostalgia blinders when I haven't seen an honest-to-goodness "Genwunner" in what must be a decade

Haven't been there in a year. I can only imagine how bad it is at this point. Genuinely don't understand why anybody is still using it.

It sort of depends on how substantial a remake we're talking about. If it's a full-on Zero Mission/Resi4-style modernization, I think Sonic Adventure would have the most to gain. If it's a faithful remake and we're just making it look/sound modern and adding QoL, obviously do Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
