On the M3 today, I was disappointed to not receive the cake I was promised at the roadworks. I now realise that the electronic sign was faulty and it was meant to read 'TAKE CARE THROUGH ROADWORKS'.

I don't want to speak too soon, but in summer school this year, the incoming Year 7s were much more resilient and independent than in previous years. I think – I hope – things might be levelling out again...

The people most desperate to get edusky up and running quickly seem to be those with (or working for) edubusinesses that make their money off of schools and teachers. I suspect that losing edutwitter means losing money.

You have to ask yourself, how can these edu-companies cream scores of high paid teachers and leaders out of schools? How are they making the money to pay such a huge wage bill? Is this coming from schools? If so, we can’t complain about budgets again.

One thing I find nauseating about Blue Sky is the notion that this is the "good place" and everyone congratulating each other on being so lovely and wonderful. People are people, wherever you go.

Unsurprising. Some of the people banging on about how nice this place is and how awful Twitter is happened to also be some of the worst behaved people on Twitter.

Have had more abuse on Bluesky in a fortnight than on Twitter in over a decade so it isn’t naturally a “nice place”. I trust that the block function works better. We will see.

I'm not so sure. Great colleagues in front of students delivering consistently good lessons can make up for SLT shortcomings, especially if the middle leadership tier is strong. They won't be as effective as they would be under strong leadership but would mitigate some of the failures of a poor SLT.

I imagine they often have a sort of random effect on progress. Another bonkers thing is how people say they're doing "targeted intervention" based on target grades. That's random intervention.

Target grades are made up. They have no validity. Nobody can defend them. They've also helped create a bizarre orthodoxy in which we discuss what grades kids "should get" which is just insane. Just have a think about what nonsense that is. The "grade they should have got "

Stop saying that this is all teachers. It isn't. We aren't the centre of the world. Loads have migrated here because of Musk's stirring up of things politically in the UK. Teachers are a small minority of those moving over here.

Bluesky does need better algorithms. You miss too much currently.
