So the class of 2025 spoiled me rotten. I will never underestimate the time and effort they put in to saying thank you. And goddammit they always make me cry.

Between my two 30+ classes of year 11, all my one to one tutees and my 3 groups a week online tutees, I feel like I have taught half the country this GCSE…and I am thinking of every one of them.

Help!!! Has anyone who does OCR English got a copy of the 2024 paper 2 they could send me. Or even just a photo of the inserts. Want to help one of my tutees with some feedback.

Of course I jumped on the bandwagon.

I am feeling heartbroken today @missdcox.bsky.social was one of the great ones, someone who was quietly supportive from afar and I will treasure my last message for its poignancy. But we should celebrate Dawn and her impact on Education; I have learnt so much from her. I’ll miss her ❤️❤️

Some days I am dead proud of the small grown up part of me that is forward thinking. Although the ‘bugger it if it rains, I’m wearing 80s style flared jeans’ teenage part of me was strong today.

The sun is out so I am sat outside the coffee shop and the rest of Manchester has put their big parkas away and put on their shorts.

Friday. Really, my peak level of excitement is that there is a new serial killer documentary on Netflix.

Looking for something else and I found this letter. There is nothing like teaching to provide physical evidence that you matter for those moments when you need a pep talk.

My birthday is in half term and today was the last day in school, so my department proper spoilt me. Year 11, who had to sit their Literature mock this morning, said they were going to smash it as a birthday treat. I am so grateful that I work with such brilliant people ❤️❤️❤️

We are at the point of tiredness in the week where I couldn’t understand why this wasn’t turning on the tv.

One of the things I love about Manchester are the many random shops that have fridges full of drinks from around the world, so here is my NY tipple of choice. Lush.

Struggling a bit with the inbetween Christmas and New Year blues, so have come out and am treating myself to the best Pea and Shallot Ravioli ever for my tea.

I made it home ok, but someone has definitely nicked the towers over Christmas.

It’s my yearly visit to a football match. I made my nephew look up from his phone for a selfie. I believe we are the team in blue.

For the past two Christmases I haven’t put up a tree because it felt sad and pointless on my own, but this year I have decided to reclaim Christmas, because I like sparkly things, for me.

Today a student told me that I was wearing boots like Miss Trenchbull. But I have warm feet kidda.

Monday motivation. This is as much for me as for students. Ok, it’s all for me, but boy am I efficient.

Only teachers spend their Sunday’s googling ‘Happy Victorian Schoolboy clipart’.

Wednesday. Home through the Manchester rain and steamed up glasses.

Manchester was giving good sky vibes this evening ready for the 4 day weekend. Never was a little break more needed.

Those Peaky Blinders have nothing on me.

This morning was pretty. Also, my taxi driver upon seeing a police van said, ‘oh no, trouble at mill’ and it made my day.

The Christmas bee is back 🐝 In other news, the lurgy has hit me right good and proper.

To cheer myself up this evening, I have gone round and picked some details I love about my flat.

For the first time in recorded history ever, this pile of mocks that was brought home is going back fully marked. And I thought I was a failure in life.

Is there more of a sad indictment of this county? I always feel privileged as a collector of stories to listen to the accounts of some of the people on the street who are up for a chat. I am always amazed at twine of the strength and resilience. We are all a pay check away

Today is about podcasts whilst doing a flat deep clean. But have some Autumn colours.

Today. I think the Northern Quarter is my favourite place on earth. I love the vibe, I love the quirkiness, I love the buildings and I love that is somewhere I never feel alone.
