I have a theory that much of the illegal dumping in DC happens because DPW will not pick up bulk trash from apartment residents.

Delightful post-work bike ride this evening to see the cherry blossoms, and a super safe ride thanks to the 15th St bike lanes & bike lanes at Hains Point and E. Potomac Park.

Traffic volumes could decrease up to 11 percent, representing almost 65,000 fewer weekday car trips; transit use would jump by almost 25 percent in the most optimistic scenario; and people who still decided to drive would save up to 24 hours of time lost in traffic.

So what did the report find? Well, it considered a variety of congestion pricing models, from tolls on bridges and roads from Maryland and Virginia to a cordon around downtown that drivers would pay $5 to $10 to enter. Annual revenue would range from $110-667 million.

Huge thanks to our neighbors who came out today to help clear some pedestrian ramps! My arms are going to fall off but at least i don’t have to climb the nearby mini mountains now.

Well,
#WeekWithoutDriving
came to an early end for a weekend trip to part of WV where there is no public transit available (which is a shame since driving is terrible and it’d be so much more pleasant to take the train!).

On Day 4 of
#WeekWithoutDriving
, it was just walking around the neighborhood — where I saw one driver not yield to pedestrians (kids to boot) in a crosswalk, and then another driver getting visibly frustrated because a young child was taking too long to cross the street.

On Day 3 of
#WeekWithoutDriving
there were some short bike rides to the gym, work, and then tennis lessons (thanks to DPR for the amazing program!), and a nice long walk to the Resevoir District park on this cool morning with the pupper.

On Day 2 of
#WeekWithoutDriving
, I biked to Capitol Hill and back from Bloomingdale, totaling about 8m roundtrip. The bike lane infrastructure in Cap Hill makes it super easy (and safe!) to get there.

On Day 1 of
#WeekWithoutDriving
, I biked to an errand (get your flu shot!) and then a work event later in the day - a total of 5 miles on the bike! The ongoing repaving work on Rhode Island Ave NW meant I had to take a longer route because unpaved roads and me do not do well.

Nothing like sending FBI, DEA, HSI, and MPD in mass numbers to a high school football game to sow chaos and fear and make things less safe.

New: DC AG Brian Schwalb is suing over US AG Pam Bondi’s order attempting to install DEA head Terry Cole as a new federal police commissioner. Just as he did in last night’s legal opinion, he calls this a violation of the Home Rule Act, which leaves the mayor/chief in charge.

This am: Driver yelled at me to get in the bike lane (which I couldn't cos its a contraflow lane). When I finally caught up to them and told them it was going the wrong way, they said they didn't understand foreign language (we were both speaking in English).
