Happy #transpoBINGO week! No whimsy on commute to the work or the gym today, but did advocate for @ddotdc.bsky.social to clear snow and ice from the NJ Avenue bike lanes and to salt/treat the cleared 9th St bike lanes!

Huge thanks to our neighbors who came out today to help clear some pedestrian ramps! My arms are going to fall off but at least i don’t have to climb the nearby mini mountains now.

Would love to know how we can get there given the state of our sidewalks and pedestrian ramps.

How exactly does one cross the street here.

Well, #WeekWithoutDriving came to an early end for a weekend trip to part of WV where there is no public transit available (which is a shame since driving is terrible and it’d be so much more pleasant to take the train!).

On Day 4 of #WeekWithoutDriving, it was just walking around the neighborhood — where I saw one driver not yield to pedestrians (kids to boot) in a crosswalk, and then another driver getting visibly frustrated because a young child was taking too long to cross the street.

On Day 3 of #WeekWithoutDriving there were some short bike rides to the gym, work, and then tennis lessons (thanks to DPR for the amazing program!), and a nice long walk to the Resevoir District park on this cool morning with the pupper.

On Day 2 of #WeekWithoutDriving, I biked to Capitol Hill and back from Bloomingdale, totaling about 8m roundtrip. The bike lane infrastructure in Cap Hill makes it super easy (and safe!) to get there.

On Day 1 of #WeekWithoutDriving, I biked to an errand (get your flu shot!) and then a work event later in the day - a total of 5 miles on the bike! The ongoing repaving work on Rhode Island Ave NW meant I had to take a longer route because unpaved roads and me do not do well.

Mayor Muriel Bowser has praised the surge and reserved her criticisms for ICE wearing masks. But tonight at a local school it was MPD who pulled up their gaiter, put on gloves, and approached me masked.

Nothing like sending FBI, DEA, HSI, and MPD in mass numbers to a high school football game to sow chaos and fear and make things less safe.

I signed on to this letter with my whole heart — a huge thank you the ANC Home Rule caucus that helped push this through.

This am: Driver yelled at me to get in the bike lane (which I couldn't cos its a contraflow lane). When I finally caught up to them and told them it was going the wrong way, they said they didn't understand foreign language (we were both speaking in English).

If anyone wants to see how much NPS and USPP cares about public health and safety, I can take them on a tour of the many NPS sites in DC that are in a godawful state.

We have acres of NPS parkland in our neighborhood that hasn’t been mowed once this year: waist-high grass and weeds, vermin habitat, tick-infested, unusable. But somehow NPS has the resources to “close” an urban park during Pride in the epicenter of the city’s LGBTQ+ community.

I think this is pretty sad!

Went to the @wmata.com session for ANC commissioners to get updates on the Better Bus rollout which goes into effect on June 29! Also got a couple of signs which are now up at the 1st and RI Avenue NW G8 stops (and yes, that route is changing too!)

It’s not even 10am and I’ve already yelled at two drivers — one for almost hitting me in the crosswalk (I was halfway thru crossing, driver was not looking), the other who blocked the crosswalk because that would save them a precious one second, pedestrians be damned.

You know what builds community? The @wmata.com bus driver cheerfully calling out to the people grilling who then invite him for food. Not drivers in cars whizzing by at 45mph.

NEWS: @schumer.senate.gov says the Senate will vote on a bipartisan amendment to fix the provision of the congressional spending bill that would force D.C. to slash $1.1 billion from its current local budget. But: It will then have to be approved by the House.
