Without fanfares and celebrations, silently, the important event has happened in the lives of me and my partner: Yesterday, I became a permanent resident of Czechia. This grants me the right to stay forever, gives new duties and opens my direct way to officially becoming Czech. My home is here. 🇨🇿

Anyways, the doors of our country are actually open to US citizens. Somewhat. We've got hard language, housing crisis, racist and sometimes homophobic people (your potential landlords lol), low pays and foggy prospects. But at least we don't deport and send people to CECOT just for lulz.
