Finally got rid of Wordpress entirely and converted everything to Hugo(ish). It's now decidedly rapid to load :D So what's the point? I want the homepage to be a semi-curated list of Indie dev blogs/websites. And if you happen to want to read mine while your there... great ^^ seemore.games

I dropped my laptop some weeks ago and it took it like a tank. But while everything still works, the corner was pretty battered. Despite being 5yrs old, times are exxy, so I ordered and have just completed a case swap instead. :)

I really know next to nothing about Wayland or the reasons why it is supposedly better than X11, but as an end user just trying to daily drive Linux.... it just sucks. Like gpick not only doesn't work, but seemingly cannot due to design philosophy? idk, maybe its a bad design philosophy then...

The power of this can’t be underestimated. Everyone worries about performance of the language, I look at the performance of the developer it allows. The time you save developing easily pays for the time to optimise the few parts that require it.

So as I'm overhauling my website, whats the lightest weight blog solution. Wordpress has been fine but bloated for years. Hugo? obsidian publish? I'd like a WYSIWYG editor and at least markdown or something

This week I've recooked my website to be an IndieWeb for Indie devs! Currently just scraping the few Bsky profiles of people I follow to try and extract blogs/personal websites so I can index them, but in future want to scrape instances of #seemoregames so you can easily tag yourself seemore.games

What's that, an actual video for my #GodotEngine puzzle game SandStack?!? 1. Finally made WASD/3 finger drag movement work right rendering the on screen joystick moot 2. Made right click delete work so I don't need to toggle the delete button when designing on PC 3. The editor runs in a web browser!

As I've just fixed the bug where finishing the last level of SandStack caused it to crash... is it technically now a complete game?.... scary times!

Optimisation for the hell of it. 35,000 sprites now at 60fps, all GDscript still. Anything faster I suspect needs gdextension or mono as I couldn't get anything out of threading (just made it slower) #GodotEngine

This evening's #GodotEngine entertainment: 20,000 sprites with hash grid collisions. No reason. Getting some microstutter despite ~300fps which I can't pinpoint the cause of. Suspicious it's some combination of compositor in Linux + NVIDIA, but no Win machine to test on soooo...

Q. If you wanted users to register an email to get extra content/leaderboards and such in your game, would you require they confirm their email? Or just accept some amount of people would've made it up and allow it? #GodotEngine but also anyone gamedev really.

Made a quick utility to auto-generate a rope tightly wrapped around arbitrary geometry. Supports odd shapes and multiple objects. Had the idea for this simple algorithm while taking a walk, and it worked a lot better than expected.🪢 #GodotEngine #gamedev #indiedev

Inspired by @yurisizov.bsky.social I finally cracked the seal and started working on SandStack again (remember that game I got to like 90% finished in ~2023). Level Editor now has locked items to be unlocked through gameplay. Wasn't even hard to implement, once I sat down and took a crack at it.

Evening (or twos) tinkerings in #GodotEngine. Yes I am aware 'Simpsons did it' (SebLague), but my way is decisively worse, as it contains unstable elastic behavior lol. All GDscript though, assumed it would get too exxy to fast, but pleasantly surprised.
