Some more cheeky #GodotEngine 'watch-dev'. On the one hand, was an interesting challenge thinking of a game that made sense on the form factor. Only radial game I could think of was old school Tempest. On the other, these devices clearly aren't made for it. I rinsed the battery in no time!

Bought myself a new watch on sales. Took me no time at all to one click deploy a little game to it with #GodotEngine ^^ Now to not get distracted by this and rabbit hole into "watch-dev"

Downloading 83GB game, ETA ~40mins. Weird thing to randomly appreciate, but I remember when it took longer than that to download a single MP3 soooo.

🤓 My last cryptic post? I just figured out a way to create and run GLOBAL editor and project manager PLUGINS in #Godot! Limitations apply, but for editor and PM enhancements it's perfectly workable. This is mostly a proof-of-concept, but may grow into something, if there is any interest 👀 Links 👇

How many hand crafted levels do you think is a fair minimum for a puzzle game on release? 40? 50? Like I'm hoping to make a game that's maybe an Hour to complete, then provide a level editor for people to create and share their own beyond that and add more after the fact depending on interest?

Premature optimisation is the devil, but getting 5k not particles going in GDScript on a $200 tablet is satisfying. I recon I could get more by combining flow and turbulence maps into one and cutting sampling in half (flow RG, turb BA) #GodotEngine

So I got a 'splinter' at the start of the week that hurt like a motherbitch. Was deep enough I couldn't fork it out, so chucked splintex and a plaster on it. Next day she be a swelling, so I want to GP who referred for an ultrasound and yeaah that chunka wood went 90% of the way through my finger :S

Is a small token, but I made my toon avatar in the early heady days of AI generated-ness before really realising the impact/abuse it was having on the creative industry. As such, from now on you get to see my real face (or a much worse drawing ^^)

Would people (gamedevs) be interested in a blogging web site that enforces human generated content? Like if you could somehow make certain it's not just bot spam. Would you use it? As a reader? a Contributor? I know plenty of people host their own, but more as a community?

Been over a year since I've touched SandStack (my #GodotEngine puzzle game). And decided to finally try to create a level generator. Got a rudimentary tool working, but it won't be trivial to turn A into B. For now though I may just use it to help me design them, but still build them by hand ^^.

After 70 odd years, what exactly are we still needing to 'test'? Surely we know pretty well how these bombs work 🤷

Anyone who's done Multiplayer Lobby/Networking work in #GodotEngine... how exactly did you test it? It's all well and good being able to run multiple instances locally, or using my phone, but how to simulate multiple IP addresses connecting? cheap VPNs/VMs? Anyone know any good services like this?

SO musing about this P2P lobby server, I figure I geocode the IP address to an approx lat/lng, then spatial hash. So I just check "are there others in the same initial square" and try to connect to these first...

Finally got round to dismantling/re-pasting my laptop heatsink. I'd let it go FAR to long, as it would idle at ~90c and thermal throttle itself the moment anything opened. Now idles at ~55c and tops out under load ~75c :D

So what, that's just a ping. WRONG! That's a peer to peer WebRTC ping in #GodotEngine that is not frame time dependent between two clients that was orchestrated by a central ENET server that is now disconnected.

Just saw a dentist for the first time in 21 years. 4 out of 10, would not recommend.

As far as I can tell a P2P 'Ping' using WebRTC in Godot will currently always report in multiples of the polling interval (i.e. ~16.7ms) But surely it doesn't have to ^^ github.com/godotengine/...

So slightly convoluted, but this is a Godot ENET lobby (right) accepting Clients (left) then orchestrating them to form a P2P WebRTC Mesh. While this seems to work, I can't understand why the clients that are pinging each other have a 17ms delay. That should be 0 🤷‍♂️, What did I miss...

I often see VFX tutorial for #GodotEngine using an Animation Player to rotate the particles around an axis. I found that we can also do it with Orbit Velocity in the particle system. Just need to make sure you add a XYZCurve and only keep the Y Curve. #Gamedev
