Apparently a thing that happens often that nobody warns you about is that grad students get punished for getting fellowships while poor. My student loan eligibility this semester were deducted by the amount of my fellowship, I'm told this is a common problem with no solution.

I'm struggling with an analysis plan and I think the worst part is that it's because I can't get the moderated mediation diagram out of my head and replace it with a more useful mental diagram.

This came up in a meeting I'm in and I thought it worth amplifying: PhDs/advisors often forget that a person with a PhD is a manager, regardless of what sector they wind up in. We need to emphasize this in our training or we do a disservice to our mentees and junior researchers.
