Tonight into tomorrow morning sees the peak of the Lyrids meteor shower. With the Moon sitting away from the radiant and setting in the early hours, this year is a reasonable one to spot Lyrid meteors. Under a dark sky it might be possible to see around 5-10 meteors per hour. #Lyrids #Astronomy

Activity for the Lyrids meteor shower begins today. The peak is on the night of 22nd to 23rd. The source of Lyrid meteors is the dust stream laid down by comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher, which last appeared in 1861. It is not expected to return until the year 2276. #Lyrids #LyridsMeteorShower #Astronomy
