Visiting family in Door County, WI. Have not seen my sibs in a few years. Having a lovely time, its very pretty here on the shore of Lake Michigan. Even better I get to have a line of Thunderstorms roll thru in the evening. We don't get them often in OR. I love them and miss them. Charge up!

Cleaning out my magick cabinet in preparation for replacing all the flooring next week. An absolute pile of herbs, incenses, elixers, oils and brews. Discoveries galore. It's a constant process of "That's where that went", "Where did I get this", "WHY did I get this", "What was this for", etc.

Supertramp: Breakfast in America (1979) is one of those core albums I had from growing up. I was 14. I'm pretty sure I got it for a penny off Columbia House. Today, I could have bought a new remastered version for $35, but it is even more satisfying to find an authentic pressing for $10.

Came across this absolute gem at a local yard sale (plus a couple others) at 3/$10 more than worth it to me for this album alone. I highly recommend "China Grove" with a good turntable and a nice set of, preferably, analog speakers. Doobie optional. Doobie Brothets - The Captain & Me (1973)

I love having company stay for a few days. The disruption of my routine is worth seeing how that routine might be putting me in a rut. I'm not necessarily opposed to ruts. Mindful repetition has many uses. The key word being "mindful". Here are the boys in a box.

Happy Beltane! Summer is not waiting around here in the Portland area. It may hit 90F this weekend. We've had very little precipiatation so far this year so I think I'm gonna toss in the ol' three-step rain shuffle for good measure.

Gotta say, one of my top ten favorite albums. Almost everything in that range for me is equally enjoyable and treasured. Which others, you may ask? Unlikely that any asked but I guess I have a few followers so I'm putting this up for internet posterity, which remembers all.

Perfectly sunny 70° but in total relaxation mode with lavender tea, a blueberry scone, a medical rice crispy treat, and Jean-Michel Jarre / Oxygene on the turntable. This wasn't (fully) intentional but I feel the vibes are perfect for some neglected vision work, meditation and magickal whatnot.

So after collecting a modest yet satisfying 30 or so albums (don't laugh-I see you sniggering) I looked at the mean year that my musical collection skews and its cir. 1976-1977. I have down to 1966 and up to 1991. I was a pre-teen, 11-12. Musical tastes tend to solidify a bit later, at 13-16.

Vinyl collection moving forward. I am fortunate to live in an urban area known for its collection and preservation. I have 2 shops I can walk to, 2 more close by, and many others unexplored. I've got huge artist lists, but often end up grabbing albums I've forgotten, or targets of opportunity.

This setup is better. Solid cheap used table with drawer for stuff like record cleaner, cords, adapters and such. For now, my new favorite sound is that crackle and pop on vinyl as the stylus lowers before the first song plays.

It lives! My new Fluance turntable and speakers which don't look like much but have considerable authority and are perfect for the space. Breaking "Flo" in with a little Steely Dan. It sounds so nice--full, rich and warm. That slightly scratchy sound off an LP is nice in its own way, too.

My new turntable and sound system is being delivered today! I'm so excited, and desperately need the happy distraction. Hopefully. Assembly and Balancing may turn out to be a nightmare and it IS April 1st. I would like it known for the record I have already had that my April 1st "FU" episode thx

I did something I do not usually do, because I have found it to rarely be helpful. I jumped headlong into a social media dust up with a transphobe woman who just cannot let the whole bathroom debate go, calling any transfolk who are just looking to use the toilet "rapists". She called me one, too

After a 40 year hiatus Im back into vinyl! Im irrationally excited to be buying my first albums in decades. What can I say? I was in need of a new hobby. Portland also has a strong collecting scene in this regard. This is B-side records

A few of my Arboral friends on my recent OR Coast trip. The "Octopus Tree" is pretty cool. The tall one is Oregon's largest Sitka Spruce at 800ft.

Beautiful sunny 60° and the signs of early Spring are everywhere. I always worry a bit about extended stretches of nice weather this time of year, because it could lead to drought and wildfires later.

Given my prediliction for lens flare, I do wonder if JJ Abrams isn't a distant relative.

Had a marvelous Samhain including a very special 1st degree Initiation. I think Initiations are probably my single favorite ceremony to perform. More than handfastings, more than house blessings, more than all the other wonderful rites I get to be a part of. Initiations have always been special.

Blessed Samhain to all! The veil is thin, and we honor and welcome our ancestors. May their memory and wisdom be a little closer to heart this Season.
