π Phylum Friday: Bryozoa! π These small colonial organisms are usually found encrusting rocks or blending in with algae. However, many of the species found in New England are invasive, and have become a concern for intertidal and subtidal ecosystems as they encrust and out-compete native species.

Plenty of different bryozoans from many, many samples have been identified as a part of our
#NorDigBryo
project, and Celleporina caliciformis is one of them! This species belongs to the family Celleporidae which is a very chaotic (in my honest opinion) group of bryozoans!
