Sure, this is a cute joke, but this now means I want an actual exploration of Exocomp society and how their species/culture have evolved over a thousand years, especially since there are so many synonyms for “nut” and “container” across the millions of Star Trek languages out there.

To confirm her identity when she takes command of the USS Athena in #StarfleetAcademy's "Kids These Days"⬆️, Captain Nahla Ake is scanned in three ways, namely by quantum entanglement checksum, DNA sequencing and retina recognition, like Kirk's retinal scan in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"⬇️.

The Doctor being handed over the wrong kind of tricorder in #StarFleetAcademy's "Kids These Days"➡️ is a callback to his first activation 800 years earlier, when Harry Kim erronoeously handed him over a tricorder instead of medical tricorder in "Caretaker"⬅️. :-)

My absolutely favourite set in #StarFleet Academy (so far) is the fireplace in Captain Nahla Ake's office / quarters (here seen in "Kids These Days"⬇️). It evokes Kirk's apartment in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"⬆️ (+III) but also contains elements (the lights) inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright! :-)

To be clear: Lura Thok in #StarfleetAcademy is Klingon on her mother's side and Jem'Hadar on her father's side. If you can believe that Humans and Vulcans/Klingons/Betazoids can have offspring, you can also believe that in 800 years the Founders/somebody else created Jem'Hadar who could be fathers.

Here are the #StarTrek hero ships chosen for the 60th Anniversary bumper opening video. Some are missing, as could be expected. If you are sad that the Cerritos or the Protostar were left our, just watch the first two episodes of #StarfleetAcademy and you'll be happy again...for reasons! :-)

According to the USS Athena's dedication plaque, briefly seen in #StarfleetAcademy's "Kids These Days" on the bridge of the ship (to the right of the turbolift), it is an Academy class starship.

Thanks to their personnel files briefly seen in the shuttle in #StarfleetAcademy's "Kids These Days", we get the full names of Athena's bridge crew: Thelonious Dandrid, Astrid Atlee, Hayden Thriss and Mackenzie Ya. I wish Atlee's species would be legible.
