I recall saying that there has never been a consistent non-white mascot that these companies have cooked up without going into full-on caricature. I think we take for granted how often cartoonists desperately want to do goofy designs, which is why white people lucked out in not having stereotypes.

Dole Fun Shapes (1999-circa 2004): A line of canned fruit with added cherry flavor, cut into a variety of shapes and marketed to kids. Available as just pineapple or a "tropical blend" which featured pineapple, mango, and papaya. They came in "Cosmic" or "Sea Creatures" shapes

Peppy Roni The Pizza Planet 1983-1984 Chuck E. Cheese had its fair share of budget imitators, e.g. the Pizza Planet in Buffalo, NY, whose animatronic band comprised of Peppy Roni and Jane the pandas, a dog and a bear. Years after its closure, the name of the restaurant became synonymous with Pixar.

For the 250th 4th of July I'm watching Abby Martin's documentary Earth's Greatest Enemy, covering how the US is a military monster that holds all responsibility for the climate nightmare and how much worse it's been since 9/11. The Black veteran in this ad, Levon, was rendered homeless years later.

Linus the Lionhearted Post Cereals 1959-1991 Initially appearing as mascot for Heart of Oats, Linus (voiced by Sheldon Leonard) became a sensation, representing Crispy Critters in 1963 and a TV series. He fizzled out in 1969, when the FCC ruled against toons appearing in ads during their own shows.

Cow and Moo (v2) Anchor 2005-2006 After working with Mr Weebl, Anchor brought in future Illumination director Pierre Coffin to create a new iteration of their trans cow duo; Cow (Stephen Fry) being snarky and sensible and Moo (Tony Robinson) showing an interest in additives and other lesser things.

Cow and Moo Anchor 2003-2004 In the 00's, advertisers used the rise in web animation and the talents involved to their advantage. For Anchor, Mr Weebl applied his Weebl and Bob template to two cows who unconditionally loved their Anchor Spreadable, politely turning down additive-based alternatives.

The Jelly Babies (each flavour of Bassett's Jelly Babies was given its own identity and design and modelled after said character when Cadbury took control, and in the same way as the Magic Stars the characters technically haven't left us despite being replaced by uniform Jelly Babies on packaging)

Qwip (a whipped cream mascot drawn by Dick Kelsey and Bill Justice in the mid-1950's, who has somehow survived in Hong Kong to this day)

Reem-chan FREE-DC•COM 2000-2001 FREE-DC was a Japanese ISP that offered access to Sega's Dricas network and a free Dreamcast for lucky subscribers, but ceased operation when the console was discontinued. The mascot was a DC gijinka whose name was voted as Reem-chan, designed by Marichan of TINAMIX.

Yoplait Custard Style was also marketed to kids as part of their "Adventure Pack" line, in which the strawberry and strawberry-vanilla flavors were promoted as "spoon hugging, dripless yogurt"

The Bartletts Crosse & Blackwell Creations 1998-1999 As part of Nestlé's major renovation of the brand, C&B introduced two new mini meal ranges with the help of a sitcom family clay-animated by Clapham Road Studios, whose two ads depicted them enjoying the products while Dad made a fool of himself.

Pizza Pete Pizza Hut 1963-1976 Pizza Hut rivalled fast food chains by introducing an Italian pizzaiolo designed by Edwin T. Pointer. Pete developed numerous identities and was a success despite not having the same exposure as his competitors, until the Red Roof overtook him as PH's official symbol.
