I don't disagree with everything in the piece, but this framing is ridiculous. It presents no evidence that Mamdani is part of the "illiberal left." Unless "illiberal" simply means "economic policies mainstream liberals oppose." That is clearly *not* how critics of illiberalism use that word.

This is a really good story with a pretty unfortunate/inapt headline. Basically everyone quoted in the story says that Dem redistricting efforts would *expand* the power of Black voters by making that power decisive in more districts.
