I have a very bad feeling about any additional tax hikes on the ballot for this fall - like the one to save public transit. The vibes are only going to get worse as gas prices continue to climb, and beef prices are set to explode due to screwworm. Imagine 9/gallon gas and $8 double doubles.

Someone actually did a study a while back that showed the most effective way to get women out of TERF groups wasn’t people trying to change their minds, it was them getting literally any benign hobby, like learning other languages or taking up needlework

In the darkest night for American liberalism, Tom Steyer went against his class interests, his generation and his era to work for the Mondale 1984 campaign. Absolute lion, I don't care what anyone else says, he's a real one

Chuck Schumer was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Eventually the wheel of karma will turn again in the favor of sensible people, but God, am I tired of waiting.

Everyone needs to hear this. This is not about opposing Trump and the GOP agenda. This is about fighting for the future and what can be. "The way out of survival mode is to imagine a positive vision of the future."

NASA has taken down its online NODIS directory, which lists NASA's internal directives, policies, and guidelines for how the agency operates. It's not that the server is down; the URL now hits a 404 Resource Not Found. According to
web.archive.org/web/20250000...
it went down between Jan 22 - 24.

if they are willing to sacrifice things like “wording this EO in a way that makes it possible for a court to interpret what it means” for acting fast enough to overwhelm you with despair, they consider you in a not-despairing state to be a greater threat than the courts alone

a key take away from reading a lot of history for me: the people who survive hard times and eventually brutally humiliate their seemingly invincible enemies are not the people whose first response to adversity is “oh well, guess I’ll die”
