I’ve always been a headteacher who teaches but, for the first time ever, didn’t teach last term. This term I have picked up a year 11 class. First lesson today and it was a joy. I love them - they’re funny, sparky, interested kids. And now they like William Blake too. Ace.

Completely agree. Amazing voluntary work by amazing people. Recent Helvellyn shout an example of multi team effort in challenging and sad circumstances.

We should absolutely try to make lessons interesting and varied, and engage students. Several issues with 'fun' though: 1. The goal of school is learning, not entertainment 2. Aiming for fun is a losing game for education. School and teachers are never going to be able to 'outfun' TikTok or gaming
