I was surprised and delighted to discover that one of the items on the timeline in Digital Eclipse’s The Making of Karateka is a little mini episode of @kirkhamilton.com‘s Strong Songs about the game’s music. What a brilliant inclusion. I love it.

Watched the Artemis II launch with the kids, then showed them Méliès’ “A Trip to the Moon,” then the music video for the Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight.” A full evening.

I'm mad at Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye because I think I probably woulda uncovered its secrets about twenty timeloops sooner if I had just turned the dang gamma up in the graphics settings about two notches

I don't know if "adventure game with card-based interface" is an improvement on either format, but it's definitely unique, and I had a really good time with the opening chapters of this anyway. And great production values! Good Juice, great art, lots of fun.

FFVII Rebirth was overstuffed, bloated, and way too long — but I will absolutely sign up to spend more time with the FFVII cast, who all these years later are still one of my favorite fictional crews. (Also, c’mon, the soundtrack is going to be 975 bangers in a row.)
