There's something so repugnant and insulting when such a generic letter, filled with bland platitudes, is sent to an association of historians who know full well who is to blame for these cutbacks. Many of us specialize in the histories of government, politics, and the state, for goodness sakes!

Delightful letter saying it is not the government's fault these programs were cut, because the institutions are arm's length. Forgetting of course that the government just slashed their budgets.

I love how the ON gov't moves to close safe injection sites, saying they are encouraging drug use, but then call for the opening of alcohol consumption in more public places. That'll help.

It is amazing to see governments cut the lowest dollar value programs so quickly and somehow keep the behemoth budgeted items intact. Look we cut all these programs to save $ !!! Sure they are important programs we regularly underfund, but hey - cuts.

Just a reminder for everyone .... government is not a business. There is no profit-loss equation. The government should collect enough to cover the costs of services provided to their citizens. And to be clear, the money comes from these citizens, along with the expectation of spending responsibly.
