Surf's up is under-rated and does its documentary style really well. The casting is spot on. Jeff Bridges as Big Z is the perfect character foil to Cody. The character movements are all distinct, they voice casted some surfers and those characters are not over animated. Everything fits. its nice.

To our dismay, the artist and author Marjane Satrapi has passed away. As she wrote, ordinary Americans and Iranians have more in common with each other than we do with either of our governments, which have far too much in common with each other. We honor her memory and oppose the war.

That said I feel like generative AI crosses a rubicon that our 3d toys didn’t. I guess it comes down to the intentional & deterministic nature of those 3d tools vs the indirect nature of “directing” AI (through prompts and selection)

Had a productive day of rewriting a page, penciling it, realizing it doesn’t work, rewriting and thumbing it out a few different ways, realizing it still doesn’t ring true or inevitable from the prior page, concluding it wasn’t ultimately necessary and cut it. 0 visible progress for a better book.
