The Supreme Court is insulting you, personally. In *February* of 2022, SCOTUS ruled that Alabama HAD TO continue using an illegal racist election map because it was too close to the 2022 midterms to make a change. Now, in *May* 2026, SCOTUS is letting THE SAME STATE - ALABAMA - change their maps.

The VA Constitution gives lawmakers unlimited latitude to set judicial retirement ages. And to make any change take effect right away, Dems can attach it to the biannual budget bill, which is still in the works.

VA's current judicial retirement age is 73—an entirely arbitrary number. Resetting it to 54 would require every justice to retire, allowing for an all-new court. Of note, VA public employees can collect partial pensions from the state's retirement system starting at age 55.

We don't ordinarily publish posts at [checks watch] 8:51 PM on a Friday night, but state constitutional law expert Quinn @yeargain.bsky.social has an outside-the-box idea for reversing the VA Supreme Court that is very much worth taking seriously: Dems can simply lower the retirement age.

An agenda for Supreme Court reform: - 18 year term limits - Expand the court to 13 Justices - Binding ethics rules - Congressional limits on what the Court can rule on per act of legislation We need to change the composition of the Court, but also its role. The Court has far too much power.

This is going to be an incredibly and very toxic vote for the GOP to take less then 6 months before a national election And this situation was only possible because D’s held their ground and refused any additional funding to ICE/CBP without at the minimum major and common sense reform measures

This is partisanship at its rawest. SCOTUS has clamped down on lower courts for rulings that could alter maps many *months* before an election—even when those maps have been judged illegal. Here, it's rushing to let the Louisiana GOP change a map *while an election is underway.*
