For the 3rd stone from the North Saskatchewan riverbank to honor Dr M, I chose the Guggenheim Museum’s giant spider with the Talus-Ball looking sculpture nearby. Plopping it into nearby estuary, I’m pretty sure when Dr M was here in 2024 he surely declared “now THIS is big, @slavocech.bsky.social 😜

Under misty skies after a particularly tough uphill slog on stage 4 of the Camino del Norte, I placed another small rock from the North Saskatchewan River at a place where Dr M may’ve pulled over to catch his breath when he walked here in 2024. He said it was tough, can confirm he wasn’t kidding!

In the hills above Deba, Spain on the Camino del Norte, I left one of three stones I gathered from the North Saskatchewan River in honor of the good doctor who left us far too soon. Walked for awhile with a woman whose son was a urologist & I told her all about Dr M who walked this same path in 2024

Facebook reminded me that Mr Uptown’s mom has been gone for 21 years today. She was only 65 & never got to see her prized 2 grandkids grow up to be parents themselves! She would’ve been a terrific great-grandma. She packed a sh*tload of terrific memories her last 5 years. F* cancer.
