It was an absolutely scorching day to celebrate the groundbreaking for 651 new homes at Barking Riverside with L&Q, more than half of which will be affordable. A new GP practice is also on the way nearby in advance of the larger, permanent health facility in the district centre.

Today I joined Old Oak Park Royal Development Corp. to launch their search for a partner to help deliver 8k new social, affordable and private homes and 11k jobs. With all the land at Old Oak now in single public ownership this is an incredible opportunity in what will be the best connected place.

It was lovely to attend the opening of Goldfinch Point in Hackney - 76 new affordable homes for older people delivered by Anchor and Hill Group with funding from @london.gov.uk. Accessible and affordable housing is vital to help older Londoners live happier, healthier lives.

There are positive signs that under new leadership the Building Safety Regulator is being turned around. I saw an example of this when I visited London Square’s Stratford Cross site with the BSR’s Operations Director, which received swift approval at Gateway 2 and is underway.

The Renters’ Rights Act comes into force today. It’s the biggest leap forward for renters in a generation, and means London’s 2.7m renters have new rights: 🚫 A ban on no fault evictions 🐈 More rights for parents and pet owners 💷 Rent can only be increased once a year.

It was great to have a tour of Grand Union, a major regeneration scheme on a former industrial site in Brent. I’m delighted that SNG and Berkeley Group are delivering 269 brand new homes for social rent as part of the next phase of the development, with funding from @london.gov.uk.

It was great to visit Good Place Lettings to hear about their socially responsible alternative to traditional lettings agencies. They work with landlords who want to offer properties to people who are homeless, with profits reinvested into supporting people experiencing homelessness.

An incredible result. At Budapest Pride last year there was a palpable anger not just about Orbán’s attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, but the institutional corruption that enriched his family and his associates while making Hungary poorer. “They’re stealing from us!” one man told me.

It was great to visit Lambeth today with @clairekholland.bsky.social and Cllr Danny Adilypour to hear about Lambeth Council’s ambitions to deliver new council homes. We also saw brand new council homes delivered by the borough, including Fenwick South built in partnership with Places for London.

We’re turning @yourroyaldocks.bsky.social into a vibrant waterside community, with plans to deliver 36,000 homes and 55,000 jobs. It was great to join so many of the people and organisations who are transforming the Docks at today’s forum at Compressor House.

It was a beautiful day to mark the start of works on Enfield Council’s Joyce & Snells estate regeneration. I joined Cllr Ayten Guzel, Cllr Tim Leaver and local school children who’d written messages to bury in a time capsule. The 2,000 home scheme is part-funded by @london.gov.uk.

It was good to visit Greenwich Peninsula with Knight Dragon to see progress in one of City Hall’s biggest land holdings. L&Q have nearly completed 476 homes (70% affordable) I visited last year with @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social. Construction is also underway on 300 homes for rent by the river.
