It was wonderful to be joined by local residents to celebrate Merton Council breaking ground on the first new council homes in the borough in a generation. Phase 1 will see 75 new council homes built across 3 sites, funded by the Mayor of @london.gov.uk’s Affordable Homes Programme.

This week we celebrated the topping out of 274 affordable homes at Meridian Water in Enfield, delivered by MTVH and Vistry and funded by the Mayor of @london.gov.uk. The regeneration of Meridian Water is being led by Enfield Council and will deliver 10,000 homes and 6,000 jobs.

It was wonderful to celebrate the completion of 266 new homes at Watermeadow Lane in Chelsea this morning, including 83 at social rent levels funded by the Mayor of @london.gov.uk. The homes were delivered by City Hall partners Peabody and Mount Anvil with the support of LBHF council.

The government’s homelessness strategy is out today, backed by £3.5bn to tackle homelessness nationally. It’s great to see a pledge to build on the Mayor of @london.gov.uk’s work to end “verification”, which can force people to sleep rough in order to access homelessness services.

Building Safety Regulator delays have massively impacted homebuilding in London. But its performance has improved significantly under new leadership. Today I chaired a roundtable bringing together the BSR with the housing sector to discuss progress and get feedback.

Government backing for the DLR extension is fantastic news. Extending the DLR to Thamesmead Waterfront via Beckton Riverside supports the delivery of 30,000 homes on both sides of the river. It also enables the proposed New Town at Thamesmead.

Fantastic news for London: the DLR Extension to Thamesmead is going ahead with backing from the Government. It’s something I’ve long called for, and will create jobs for Londoners and help deliver tens of thousands of homes in London.

The end of no fault eviction is finally in sight! Promised for 5 years by the last government but never delivered, now delivered by this government. This is a key part of the Mayor of @london.gov.uk’s Blueprint for Renting, much of which is being implemented by the Renters’ Rights Act.

This is a big moment. The Renters’ Rights Bill represents a huge leap forward for private renters. It includes the ban on no-fault eviction that the previous government promised but failed to deliver, finally delivered by this government. Congratulations to @rentersreformco.bsky.social!

It was wonderful to join @umakumaran.bsky.social MP to celebrate the completion of brand new homes at Stroudley Walk in Bromley-by-Bow delivered by Poplar Harca. There are 82 brand new homes at social rent levels funded by the Mayor of London, including adapted homes for disabled Londoners.

Delighted that TfL, @londonambulance.nhs.uk and @london.gov.uk have donated 44 defibrillators to homeless shelters across the capital. These won't just help vulnerable communities on site in an emergency, but also the staff and people in the surrounding communities. 🤝❤️
