Council housing is a top priority for @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social, so it was great to join @helendennis.bsky.social at the groundbreaking for 340 new homes at the Ledbury estate, including 215 council homes funded by the Mayor. A fantastic scheme led by LB Southwark in partnership with Higgins.

It was great to visit Lambeth today with @clairekholland.bsky.social and Cllr Danny Adilypour to hear about Lambeth Council’s ambitions to deliver new council homes. We also saw brand new council homes delivered by the borough, including Fenwick South built in partnership with Places for London.

City Hall has launched two new services to accelerate home building in London: ATLAS LDN and NHA LDN. Yesterday @julespipe.bsky.social and I spoke about how they will unblock stalled sites, and help boroughs deal with big planning applications. Thanks to @businessldn.bsky.social for hosting.

We’re turning @yourroyaldocks.bsky.social into a vibrant waterside community, with plans to deliver 36,000 homes and 55,000 jobs. It was great to join so many of the people and organisations who are transforming the Docks at today’s forum at Compressor House.

It’s fantastic that 338 new homes for social rent are underway at the Biscuit Factory in Southwark. Delivered by Square Roots and London Square with the support of Southwark Council and funding from @london.gov.uk, they will make a huge difference to the lives of Londoners.

It was a beautiful day to mark the start of works on Enfield Council’s Joyce & Snells estate regeneration. I joined Cllr Ayten Guzel, Cllr Tim Leaver and local school children who’d written messages to bury in a time capsule. The 2,000 home scheme is part-funded by @london.gov.uk.

It was good to visit Greenwich Peninsula with Knight Dragon to see progress in one of City Hall’s biggest land holdings. L&Q have nearly completed 476 homes (70% affordable) I visited last year with @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social. Construction is also underway on 300 homes for rent by the river.

It was fantastic to be joined by Housing Secretary, Steve Reed, to officially break ground on 900 new Passivhaus homes at Bollo Lane in Ealing. Delivered by a partnership between Places for London, Barratt London and MTVH, 50% of the homes will be affordable with funding from @london.gov.uk.

In response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, the government legislated for Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (RPEEPs) in 18m+ and some 11-18m buildings. This morning I welcomed social landlords to a workshop with the London Fire Brigade to raise awareness of the importance of RPEEPs.

There are sites across London with the potential to deliver thousands of homes. They aren’t getting built because of planning, infrastructure, financing or regulatory issues. Our New Homes Accelerator (NHA LDN) will work to unblock these sites and get spades in the ground.

Residents will soon move into this development, which includes wheelchair accessible and family sized homes.

Today I visited the stunning Stirling Prize and Neave Brown Award-winning Appleby Blue Almhouse in Southwark. Run by United St Saviour’s, Appleby Blue provides social housing for older people. Beautiful flats, light corridors with places to sit, and gorgeous community spaces.

London’s getting £1.5bn of the government’s new low cost loans for housing associations, 60% of the national pot. They’ll be part of the Mayor of @london.gov.uk’s City Hall Developer Investment Fund. The 0.1% interest loans have echoes of Vienna’s renowned social housing funding model.

It was fantastic to celebrate the completion of new homes at Dagenham Green delivered by Peabody and Hill, including 4-bedroom affordable homes funded by the Mayor of @london.gov.uk. A total of 3,500 homes and a new park will be built at Dagenham Green, which is on the site of the old Ford plant.
