It’s right that the UK, Canada and Australia have joined the majority of countries and recognised the State of Palestine. But unless maximum pressure is put on Israel to stop its genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank there will be no viable state left to recognise.

Great to be out in sunny Barking Riverside today for a Barking Riverside Ltd board meeting. We also had a look at some of the work taking place on site, including works on the foreshore to protect ecology in advance of improvements to flood defences, drainage and access taking place.

It was great to hear from the new Chair of the Building Safety Regulator, Andy Roe, at #LREF25 about the steps he’s taking to reform the regulator and improve and speed up the application process. A well functioning BSR is crucial if we are to deliver the safe homes we need.

A presenter Fox News just suggested that homeless people should be killed with apparently zero pushback from his co-hosts. It’s beyond horrifying that this sort of extreme, dehumanising, sociopathic rhetoric is being normalised on a mainstream US television network.

Having grown up in council housing Angela Rayner understands clearly its vital importance. As Secretary of State for Housing she signed off London’s biggest and most long-term social & affordable housing funding deal ever. Her resignation is a huge loss, and I will miss her leadership.

This morning I co-chaired the new London Housing Mission Board with Cllr @graciemaew.bsky.social. This joint City Hall / London Councils board brings together key players from across the housing sector and central government to take a mission-based approach to boosting housing delivery.

This week we celebrated the first 100 affordable homes at TwelveTrees Park in Newham delivered by Berkeley and Peabody, and funded by the Mayor of @london.gov.uk. In total 4700 homes including 1650 affordable will be built on this City Hall-owned site, plus a new station entrance bridge.

Yesterday we launched the delivery plan for Warmer Homes London, a new Mayor of @london.gov.uk/London Councils partnership that’ll upgrade 1000s of homes. Great to hear from @metecoban92.bsky.social & @graciemaew.bsky.social about how it will make homes greener, healthier & more affordable to heat.

Fantastic news that Tonic Housing, who delivered the country’s first LGBTQ+ affirming retirement community supported by a loan from the Mayor of @london.gov.uk, is now a Registered Provider of Social Housing. This will enable them to access City Hall grant funding for affordable homes.
