As our manifesto rightly argued, Palestinian statehood is the inalienable right of the Palestinian people. The UK government has acted today to protect the viability of the two-state solution by formally recognising the State of Palestine.

Yesterday’s planning application statistics were disappointing but we are seeing clear green shoots. Even accounting for the serious delivery challenges in London, Q2 figures released today show housing starts up 29% compared to last year. We’re getting Britain building again.

The Tories knew that abolishing mandatory housing targets in 2023 would torpedo housing supply but they ploughed on regardless. We are all still paying the price. Labour is doing what is necessary, including enabling strategic Green Belt release, to get Britain building again.

The Renters’ Rights Bill returns from the House of Lords today. It will level decisively the playing field between landlord and tenant and transform the experience of private renting. England’s 11 million private renters need it to receive Royal Assent as quickly as possible.
