Juneteenth didn’t mark the end of enslavement in the USA. Not only did enslavement continue illegally for years, but to this day it remains legal to enslave incarcerated folks— a group that is disproportionately BIPOC. Happy Juneteenth, but always remember the fight isn’t over.
