The 96 GB kit of RAM I was eyeing for when I rebuild my NAS was like $700. A few months ago it was $1,200. Now it’s $2,200. Fuck.

Replaced the three Fractal Design case fans with Noctua fans and added two more to the front. One of the fractal fans was failing and my drives were running a bit warm (40C)

That moment when you see that your second NAS only has 18% free space left. And that you haven’t backed it up since July. Bought three used 16 TB hard drives and I’m going to swap them out and let it resilver and swap out the next until the pool’s expanded. Did an incremental backup this morning.

That moment when you specifically filter search results and buy only from a US-based eBay seller for concerns of shipping time and tariffs and they give you a tracking number for a Chinese parcel delivery service. Yeah, no. You’re definitely not in Ohio now, are you?

It’s so sad that btrfs hasn’t resolved the RAID5/6 issues after so many years. And that bcachefs was so promising but now seems to turning into another dead end.

Same ewaste recycler had an Apple Thunderbolt Display in good condition. Forgot to select “local pickup” and now I’m trying to fix that. Hopefully they’ll respond soon or be able to take care of it when I go to pick up the Mac Pro in person later.
