It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick. Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.

I got one of the original DSA membership cards a decade ago, but it long since disappeared into a drawer or moving box in the attic. Today, I am proud to say that I am officially, once again, a card-carrying democratic socialist.

That was genuinely the most encouraging, enjoyable canvassing experience I’ve had so far. Nearly everyone we talked to was excited to vote for Zohran, knew their polling place and had a plan to vote early over the weekend. The cure for doomerism is just doing the work.
