Top tip: (In England/Wales) Until 1969 birth register entries show no surname for the child - only their forename(s). Entries are INDEXED under the surname of one, or both, parent(s) depending on their marital status. Understand that, and searching the indexes becomes so much easier. #Genealogy

FreeBMD is a wonderful resource, but they do need to stop saying that things are a "late entry" when in almost every case they are actually re-registrations and there is another, often vital, entry to find - causes so much confusion (and incorrect research) #Genealogy #CivilRegistration #RantOver
