In all the films now u have people saying how wonderful it is to hear budding jazz musicians practicing. In the biographies is more like I had to hide in a closet. U don’t get the mythology of Sonny on the bridge without this fact. The films are full of it.

I’m painting pictures of things I know about, and things I’ve felt, that the world just hasn’t had the chance to feel... I’m painting pictures of another plane of existence, you might say, of something that’s so far away that it seems to be nonexistent. (Sun Ra)

so fellow ambient and drone musicians, time has come: I’m getting tired of the reverbs I use in my DAW Any suggestions? MaxForLive also ok, free stuff or cheap one much appreciated, bonus for long, lush, strange plugins!

World Cup VAR is horrible. It’s the Palantir-ization of football. Instead of human judgment being the arbiter of fairness, it makes sport an extension of a surveillance state where machines make decisions so no one is accountable. Colombia losing a goal to a PS2 pixelated toe is a fucking absurdity.

Nothing on Rough Trade tops the first James Blood Ulmer 7". No one has uploaded that to YT, but the album version comes close, if cleaner. That moment around 4 mins when the guitar almost loses control is right up there. RIP JBU.

This blew my mind. Some of the largest data centers can require up to 5 million gallons of water per day, equivalent to the water use of 50,000 people. Why are we selling out the survival of our planet to enrich a handful of Big Tech CEOs?

Gothic is bonkers fun - I love that it uses material from Mary Shelley’s diaries - and I ALSO love that she seems to be trapped in an 80s pop video for some of it - everyone is delivering the finest prosciutto in their roles 🖤
