1977, Australia. I have SO much respect for Aussie punks like The Saints & Radio Birdman (I know they are rock & roll, but the attitude was punk). Maybe so much great stuff emerged a little later precisely because it wasn't easy?

Color TV debuted
#OTD
in 1951. The first color broadcast was a variety show aired on 5 CBS affiliates — notably co-directed by Frances Buss (1917-2010), TV's first woman director. Few saw it, because color sets weren’t on sale yet. And CBS’s color broadcasts were incompatible with B&W TVs.

In 1973 Alice Cooper came to New York City at the invitation of Salvador Dali. The artist wanted to make a piece centered around Alice Cooper. The finished piece was a hologram entitled “First Cylindric Chromo-Hologram Portrait of Alice Cooper’s Brain.”
