i think the fact that all of this is coming to light and we all have to just keep on slaving away while knowing nothing is going to be done, no one's going to be held accountable, and they're going to continue to steal from us with impunity has brought me closer to crashing out than anything else

i'm at the point where i genuinely believe the only way forward for the US is an amicable split between the conservatives and the progressives. ideally, there would be a 6 month period during which all US citizens are given $5000 and the opportunity to move to the side the want. after that... split

i'm really trying hard not to let myself become some kind of ageist, but it's getting hard not to be radicalized by the fact that every aspect of my life- personal, professional, romantic, financial- has been made measurably worse by old people who cling to power and refuse to die

news media organizations (every organization, really) desperately need to start hiring people under the age of 35 and start putting them in decision-making positions. any organization that can't understand youth culture also lacks the ability to meaningfully report on current events

i've started to notice that my deep-dives into certain kinds of video games always coincide with times of tremendous stress and mental anguish in my life. i've also started to notice that it doesn't usually help.

one of the more upsetting side-effects of the past month's stress has been the impact it's had on my diet. i take pride in having a lot of discipline, but that resolve crumples immediately in the face of overwhelming mental stressors, which means this month has been more or less catastrophic

love my family and friends, but struggling to make them understand just how demoralizing it is to work in civil service at this particular moment in time

i really don't want to unplug from all my news sources- it's all germane to my life and career, after all, it feels like it behooves me to know the new and interesting ways my life is being ruined. but i can't *do* anything about it, and the constant barrage is wearing me down.

lexapro has been great for general anxiousness and stopping the bad brain spirals, but it hasn't really done anything for those times where i misread a social situation and immediately get the "YOU FUCKED UP, YOU FUCKED UP, ITS SO OVER" sirens in my brain that don't stop ringing for about 48 hours
