If you think “No Kings” is not anti-imperial enough, take note. I took a Palestine sign to the first one and while I saw others, I got a lot of engagement from folks. Even if they’re organized by lib normies, these events need NOT be a ceiling. They’re a floor. Go raise the roof at them.

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

i don't mean to single out baseball fans here, because you see this in lots of fan communities, but in certain corners people talk as though baseball is real. they think all the players are real people and the stadiums are places you can actually visit. to each their own, but that cannot be healthy

my takeaway from climate week nyc is that "climate storytelling" is a little too much "we must reimagine our deepest souls in relationship to mother nature and the moral abyss of the polycrisis into which we must now stare" and not enough "ok but get a heat pump"

Couple days ago I saw a shouting match between two guys over a parking spot and while it was pretty stressful tbh, I can't stop thinking about how the one guy said, "What's with your haircut, man? You're bald! You're so bald I can see your thoughts!"

One thing I'll say about DC not only canceling Red Hood, but recalling the first issue and refunding stores for buying it, is that you can still get Neil Gaiman's work through them. They still work with Otto Schmidt. Eddie Berganza worked there for years AFTER the formation of a policy that no women

This is the whole thing right here. All these tired fights about whether Dems should moderate are ways of dancing around the real problem, which is the that political parties no longer have any mass constituency.

One of the critiques I see of a board game as art is "If you remove the theme, it isn't about anything." I simply cannot imagine disregarding elements of an art piece that the designer considered and gifted to me so casually. If I remove the colors from a painting, it's just brushstrokes. 1/4

there is a folk myth of the Mamdani campaign on this website, even as it is literally still ongoing, that it wasn't one of the most disciplined operations we've seen in a while, with a relentless focus on pocketbook issues as a way of selling a socialist as the man to take the city forward

A reminder that as messily as this is being handled, Itch aren't to blame for this wave of bans. They're probably direct takedown orders from corporate payment processors like Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, etc forwarded on from anti-porn organizations. They're trying to do damage as fast as they can.
