We brought Kanade home today. After we put her down for a nap and had some food, we noticed there wasn't a single cat in the rest of the house. We went to Kanade's room, and they were all staring at her in her crib. Jackpot was curled up with her. This is probably normal.

I've been a dad less than 72 hours and I have already found myself looking at my infant daughter and tearing up at just how much I love her already. Our surrogate says that the moment Kanade was put into my arms, the pregnancy hormones passed to me. We've started making that joke a lot.

I only just now got the time to announce this, but... Yesterday, May 15th, we welcomed Kanade Sakaki, Hibiki's and my newborn daughter into the world. She's healthy, has a good set of pipes, and we'll be taking her home in a couple of days.

Hibiki's mom won, sort of. We had a "Gender reveal" party with her and a few close friends. She was completely baffled when the cake wasn't pink or blue, but was just a rainbow cake. When we explained that we didn't know the baby's sex she finally understood we weren't just playing coy.
